A recent WWE main roster call-up has addressed his confrontation with Randy Orton on SmackDown earlier this year.
The January 2 episode of WWE SmackDown saw Trick Williams confirm that he has signed with the brand, moving up from NXT and a brief free agency period.
The former NXT Champion would not waste time in making a mark among established SmackDown stars, with Randy Orton being in his sights.
The pair would get into a confrontation on the January 9 episode of WWE SmackDown, marking Orton’s return to the Friday night show.
During a recent appearance on the Busted Open Podcast, Williams addressed his mindset for confronting Orton, saying:
“You know as a fighter, period, you’ve got to respect every man you’re across from. I don’t care if he’s 5’5, 130 pounds, you’ve got to treat everybody the same.
“There’s a level of respect that I put on everybody. I fear no man, I treat everybody the same and I always have my guard up so I’m ready for whatever happens.
“With it being Randy Orton, I mean, yes, I understand it’s Randy Orton. I understand that he’s one of the greatest of all time.
“He has been doing it for 20 years plus, but look, he’s another man, just like I am. We put our lemon pepper steppers on the same way.”

In his first televised SmackDown match, Williams defeated Rey Fenix and would go on to a victory against Matt Cardona in the Undisputed WWE Championship Number One Contendership tournament.
Williams has recently revealed how he found out he was being called up to the main roster, having signed with WWE back in 2021.
