A WWE star reportedly received medical treatment after a spot on Friday’s episode of SmackDown in London, England.

Despite picking up a big win against Randy Orton and staking his claim for a future Undisputed WWE Championship match against Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre’s SmackDown appearance ended on a sour note as he was attacked by current rival Damian Priest and chokeslammed through a car windshield.

Following the spot, McIntyre took to Twitter to post:

That was real glass…

It got in my eye.

While the comments were an obvious wink and nod to Jack Perry’s “real glass” line at AEW All In London 2023 and the CM Punk altercation that it led to, a later report revealed that McIntyre did in fact get glass in his eye as a result of Priest’s attack.

However, in the latest development regarding McIntyre’s status, PWInsider have revealed that was not the case after all.

After their WWE sources returned to the United States following SmackDown, PWInsider was told that McIntyre did receive medical treatment to clear something from his eye following the spot, however, it was not glass that got in his eye.

Despite it not being glass, McIntyre was seen wearing an eye patch backstage after the incident and did tell others that glass was removed from his eye.

In a video clip posted to the WWE UK Twitter account (see below), Drew can be seen sporting an eye patch whilst signing a Rangers FC themed WWE Championship.

McIntyre did not appear at WWE’s live event in Vienna, Austria last night (March 29), however, he was never originally booked to compete at the show.

We will provide further updates on McIntyre’s status if more information becomes available.
