The Hurt Syndicate AEW return plans: MVP calls out ‘blatant lies’ about the group circulating online, so is a comeback nearing?

AEW's Hurt Syndicate

One of the hottest topics of this past week has been the status of The Hurt Syndicate, with rumors circulating that the group have been refusing to put people over in AEW.

Considering that Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP haven’t been seen on AEW programming in almost two months, this has led many fans to assume that these rumors may also be why they haven’t been used.

However, MVP has now taken to social media to dismiss all the chatter, posting a series of tweets on October 24 in which he called out the “blatant lies” and claimed that Hurt Syndicate actually wanted to drop the AEW World Tag Team Titles back to Private Party after winning them in January 2025.

He wrote:

So I open up Twitter to see lies being reported about The Hurt Syndicate. BLATANT LIES!!!

Who is the source of these lies? To the contrary, we wanted to work with younger talent! We wanted to drop the tag titles BACK to Private Party!!!

STOP BELIEVING THE BS!

MVP then added:

Seriously wrestling fans. You guys have to stop believing the click bait BS reported by these idiots at these “dirt sheet” sites.

Rumor, gossip with absolutely ZERO facts!!!! Site your sources! Cowards.

So, if there is nothing to these rumors as MVP says, we should see he, Lashley and Benjamin make a return to television soon right?

With the group’s significance to AEW taking a nosedive in 2026, how can Tony Khan re-establish them as an important part of the company once again? Here are a few potential return plans for The Hurt Syndicate:

Target Will Ospreay after feud with Adam Copeland ends

Bobby Lashley is one of AEW’s most legitimate main event level talents, but he hasn’t really been booked as that since arriving in the company.

Instead, the former two-time WWE Champion has been in the tag team division almost exclusively and not even made an attempt to capture the AEW World Title.

While many fans would push back on the idea of Lashley winning AEW’s top prize at this stage of his career, he could still make for a great contender and someone AEW could use to further put over their top babyface star: Will Ospreay.

Ospreay defeating Lashley would add a major notch to his belt and would be a much better use of “The All Mighty.”

Reunite with MJF

Arguably the most interesting period of The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW run was when they accepted MJF into their group in mid 2025.

The union worked well and provided some entertaining moments, but for whatever reason it was dropped just as it really started to get going.

With MJF currently off TV – like The Hurt Syndicate – perhaps we could see a reintroduction that once again brings them all together as a dominant heel force.

Add a new fourth member

Aside from MJF’s brief time in the group, The Hurt Syndicate has been a three man group throughout in AEW.

Speculation of former Hurt Business member Cedric Alexander joining never went anywhere, as he instead ended up in TNA Wrestling, and teases of potentially adding someone like Lee Moriarty never amounted to anything either.

One easy way to refresh the faction would be by adding a fresh face, and by doing so they could then target more championships in the company.
