An update has emerged on WWE Invasion following the arrival of multiple TNA Wrestling roster members during a recent episode of NXT.
Tensions between NXT and TNA Wrestling reached a whole new level with the invasion of September 23.
During the champion vs champion main event, which saw NXT Champion Oba Femi face TNA World Champion Trick Williams, members of the TNA Wrestling roster made their presence felt.
With a pay-off no doubt in the near future, WWE has now seemingly given a hint as to what the potential crossover show between NXT and its partner could be called.
In a new filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, WWE submitted an application for the term “Invasion”, covering:
“Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service;
providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information;
fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members;
providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment”
Invasion has been used by WWE previously as the name of the July 2001 pay-per-view which saw the then-WWF take on The Coalition, featuring stars from WCW and ECW, both of which has been acquired by the company.
NXT has previously used past WWE and WCW show names for their Premium Live Events, with the third No Mercy show of the 2020’s taking place on September 27.
The current match line-up for NXT No Mercy can be found right here.
