The first title defence for two WWE stars in AAA has now been confirmed, following the duo’s recent championship win.
With WWE announcing the acquisition of AAA in April, we have since seen a lot of talent crossover between the two promotions, which are currently operating as separate brands.
The June 15 Triplemania Regia show saw active WWE stars win AAA gold for the first time, with Angel and Berto leaving Arena Monterrey as AAA Tag Team Champions.
The duo’s first defence of the gold has now been announced, with the AAA Tag Team Championship to be on the line at Verano de Escándalo.
Angel – billed as Angel Garza – and Berto will defend their title against Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr.

Both Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr have been prominently featured within AAA-WWE crossover appearances, with Kid competing on the June 3 NXT episode, ahead of challenging for Ethan Page’s North American Championship in a fourway match at WWE X AAA Worlds Collide.
Octagon Jr competed in trios tag-team action at Worlds Collide, before unsuccessfully challenging for Dominik Mysterio’s Intercontinental Championship at WWE Money in the Bank later that night.
