WWE NXT General Manager Robert Stone has addressed the result of last night’s match between Lola Vice and Kendal Grey.
The March 31 episode of WWE NXT saw Lola Vice and Kendal Grey face off to determine the number one contender for Jacy Jayne’s Women’s Championship.
The match ended in an inconclusive fashion however, with Grey submitting to Vice’s front face lock whilst also pinning Vice’s shoulders to the mat with a Northern Lights Suplex at the same time.
With no clear winner being determined, Jacy Jayne has since declared that there will be no match at NXT Stand and Deliver on April 4.
Robert Stone has taken a difference approach to the result however, seeming to suggest that options for Stand & Deliver’s NXT Women’s Title match are being hashed out behind the scenes.
Taking to Twitter, Stone wrote:
“Interesting finish to the @kendalgreywwe vs. @lolavicewwe match on @WWENXT
“Gonna be a busy few days!”
A resounding theme throughout the replies to Stone’s tweet suggests that fans would be happy to see a three-way for the NXT Women’s Championship that Jayne has held since last November’s Gold Rush Night 1.
An Obvious Direction For WWE Stand And Deliver
A number one contender’s match with no definite winner is certainly a creative choice, especially this close to NXT Stand And Deliver on April 4.
It gives little time to go in a different direction, with the title match already expected to take place, so we can pretty much rule out a “let’s make it a best-of-three series” or some such rematch to determine a contender.
At this stage, the triple threat is the most likely solution, with the fan reaction to Lola Vice and Kendal Grey on last night’s episode of NXT showing that the interest is there in seeing either of them move forward.
Looking ahead, with WrestleMania 42 taking place later this month, it’s not out of the question that Jayne could drop the title and get her main roster call-up after the upcoming two-night WWE Premium Live Event.
Jayne has had two reigns as NXT Women’s Champion and Women’s Tag Team Champion, with the only title she hasn’t claimed so far being the Women’s North American Championship, although there is, arguably, little benefit to her going for that unless it’s to establish herself as a Triple Crown holder in the brand.
There are interesting times ahead for the NXT Women’s Championship landscape, and those who compete in it, with Stand and Deliver being no exception.
