The WWE United States Championship will be on the line on Friday night, and an update has emerged for Carmelo Hayes’ open challenge plans.
On January 16, WWE SmackDown will emanate from the OVO Arena in Wembley, London, England, and Carmelo Hayes has issued an Open Challenge invitation.
Hayes addressed the invitation in a recent post on Twitter, calling for “the best out of the UK” to step into the ring and face him for the United States Championship, posting:
“Smackdown in London tomorrow night!
“I want the best out of the UK that wants to step up, put on and tear the roof off that bih #USTitleOpenInvitation 🎯”
This post has fuelled speculation about which British star could be set to challenge for the gold on Friday’s show.
With replies rolling in, a common suggestion from his followers was for TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater to be the one to answer the challenge.
Slater was scheduled to appear at TNA Thursday Night Impact on AMC and at this Saturday’s Genesis pay-per-view, with ‘visa issues‘ causing a change in plans.
At the time of writing, the open challenge has yet to be answered, although all will be revealed on WWE SmackDown.
