An AEW star has teased an on-screen storyline with their real-life wife, assuming it’s the right creative fit for both of them.
Married in June of this year, Will Ospreay and Alex Windsor are yet to see their paths cross in a competitive capacity on AEW television, although they have shared the screen over the years.
Ospreay heads to AEW All In: London to face Kenny Omega for the World Championship, while Windsor and Jamie Hayter will be in action as The Brawling Birds seek to capture the Women’s World Tag Team Championship from Divine Dominion (Lena Kross & Megan Bayne) on the August 30 pay-per-view.
During a recent interview with TV Insider, Ospreay was asked about potentially uniting with Windsor on television, saying:
“For sure, with the right storyline comes for it, for sure. We’re fine with that. People know. There’s no reason why we should try and hide the fact that we’re in a relationship and married to one another. She has been part of my schtick because she’s a huge part of my promos. Like there’s always that man with the wife that gives him a bit of a hard time, but he loves her. That’s the comedic part of our relationship that I love bleeding into my promos and into our life, because it’s just such a natural part of that authenticity that I like putting forward to people.
“She’s very much along the lines of she likes to do the things that are good for her career, and I like to do the things that are good for my career. Now, one of these days, there probably will be a time where we probably have to work together, and I’d love to see it. To be honest with you, I’d love to see how we gel together as an onscreen couple because I feel like we have naturally good chemistry anyway. With our humor, we bounce off one another very well, so I’d like to see what we’d be like in those situations.”
Ospreay has previously opened up about finding his “perfect person” in Windsor, looking at the challenge of being his wife.
A Power Couple In AEW
In the right circumstances, a storyline uniting Windsor and Ospreay could be an intriguing one, particularly if both had championships at the time.
Power couples are nothing new in professional wrestling, with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon as the McMahon-Helmsley Era likely being a touchstone for many fans, and far from the only such pairing.
More recently, WWE fans have seen Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins united, feuding with CM Punk and AJ Lee.
Delivered properly, acknowledging their relationship but also driving them forward as characters in AEW, there’s plenty of mileage for two Brits who have, time and again, demonstrated their commitment to their craft.
