A WWE star has revealed how they found out they were being called up to the main roster, having gone from a ‘free agent’ to SmackDown.
In late December of last year, former WWE NXT Champion Trick Williams declared that he was a free agent, eventually officially joining the SmackDown brand on January 2.
Williams has now revealed how he found out he was being called up from NXT in a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.
Discussing his call-up, Williams said:
“I was excited, man. I knew I worked very hard, and of course, I know it’s very competitive on Raw’s roster and SmackDown’s roster, but I felt like I fit like a glove.
“I just knew I was ready for the moment, and I wanted the world to see me. I was excited, man. I couldn’t wait, and now we’re here.

When asked how he found out he was main roster-bound, Trick Williams explained:
You get a text message from a random number, ‘Congratulations, you are needed for Creative.’ I was like, ‘Man, I hope it’s real.’
“You get a text message, and then you get notified through the app that ‘hey, this is how we’re going to get you to the destination’, and then you’re off to the races.”

The app in question may very well be the scheduling tool that Axel Tischer referenced when discussing how he found out SAnitY were splitting.
Williams was recently in action against Matt Cardona in a qualifying match to determine the number one contender for the Undisputed WE Champion.
The match on the January 16 episode of WWE SmackDown would be won by Williams, with Cardona going on to address his first loss since his return.
