A recent WWE trademark application hints at a potential new addition to the show calendar with the name ‘NXT Revenge’.
In an application submitted on April 6, WWE filed to trademark the term ‘NXT Revenge’ under Serial Number 99746115.
The Goods and Services category for the new application covers:
IC 041: Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media;
providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media;
providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.
At the time of writing, it isn’t clear when or if the trademark will be used, but WrestleTalk will, as always, keep readers up to date with any NXT-related news.
WWE Trademark Plans
A term like ‘NXT Revenge’, especially under the aforementioned category, does suggest that fans could expect to see a new show or event under that name, however WWE’s actual intention for the term hasn’t been confirmed.
Should WWE use it as an NXT Premium Live Event name, it would join a calendar of eight such shows (based on last year) , with January, March, June, and November 2025 all having not seen their own PLE take place.
In addition, NXT has several specials, with Gold Rush in November being a two-night event seeing a crossover between the brand’s roster and stars of Evolve, TNA Wrestling and AAA, while this year’s New Year’s Evil took place on January 6.
A trademark application is intended to secure the intellectual property associated with the filing, preventing other organizations from using it, or something similar.
While WWE files trademark applications on a regular basis, it doesn’t necessarily follow that all filings will lead to something substantial.
WWE holds trademarks for a large majority of the names by which its stars are known, along with factions, show names and other such entities where there’s a value in being the holder.
That said, occasionally we’ve seen trademark applications that have been filed that don’t emerge, with Succession being one such example of a now-abandoned WWE filing.
