WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley says that former rival Blake Monroe might be her wrestling soulmate.

This was the second clash between Tatum and Blake, with the first coming back at NXT Stand & Deliver, where Tatum retained the title against Blake.

Tatum Paxley Says Blake Monroe Could Be Her Wrestling Soulmate

Speaking to the The Mark Moses Show, Tatum was asked about her promo segment with Blake in New York to set up their match at Stand & Deliver.

Tatum opened up on the connection she had with Blake, and how she could be her wrestling soulmate.

She said:

“She’s one of those people that, the second she stepped foot into NXT, I was like ‘I have to have interactions with this girl’.

“Something with me and Blake, we know ourselves so well, and something I really appreciated, aside from the words we had to say with each other, we had this amazing eye contact that I don’t really feel like I get with a lot of people.

“Any time I’m on stage, talking with my heart, sometimes people tend to look around, look at the audience, her and I were so locked in on each other and meant and felt everything we were saying, so I have like a really great connection with her from that promo, I just remember staring at her and we were not looking away. We were locked in on each other, and that was really cool.

“Getting to do things with her, any time I stepped away from it I was like ‘this feels right’. She might be my wrestling soulmate, I’m not sure.”

Tatum Paxley Preparing To Start Indie Wrestling Career Before Joining WWE

Elsewhere the same interview, Paxley said:

“I’m not cheerleading anymore, I’m powerlifting, so that performative aspect that I knew I could do, I wasn’t doing anymore. I had zero direction in my life, I didn’t know what I wanted to do career wise.

“I started watching WWE women’s wrestling on YouTube, and I was like ‘whoa, this looks so much fun’, but my brain did not even consider WWE because that’s way out of the realm of possibility.

“I knew a girl that was heavily involved in the pro wrestling world, and I was looking to get on the indies. So I say ‘hey, how do I start learning’ and she goes ‘give me a minute’, and I get an email from WWE 10 minutes later. She knew a recruiter, lucky me, and they say ‘we have a tryout in Vegas in two weeks, you wanna come?’ I was like ‘oh… yeah lets try it!’ So I got really, really, really lucky.

“I’ve never said her name before but her name is Taylor, and when Triple H shook my hand and said ‘we wanna sign you’, I stepped out, and I called her and I’m crying. She goes ‘oh no, you got hurt’. She’s like ‘I just sent this girl to a tryout, she got hurt’, and I’m like ‘no I made it, you changed my life!’

“No experience. I took my first bump at the tryout, my back was welted up from the ropes and I’m going ‘this is real, this is different, but oh my God I want to keep doing it’. I just felt in my gut that I made it.

“I never have that confident feeling of ‘this is going to work out’, but when we got separated into our rooms and it was, we’re going to be pulling you guys aside, but I knew in my heart, I sat down, I wasn’t going to touch my phone, not gonna touch my bag, they’re gonna walk in here and call my name, and they did. I was like ‘I knew it!'”

With a great output over the past year, we could soon see Tatum be in line for a call up to Raw or SmackDown in the not too distant future.
