A WWE star’s retirement match has potentially been revealed after he announced 2026 would be his final year active in the ring.

Months ago, amid other major retirements such as John Cena and Hiroshi Tanahashi, AJ Styles announced he would have his final match in 2026.

After GUNTHER defeated Cena in Cena’s retirement match last month, Styles and GUNTHER have been embroiled in a feud that saw GUNTHER win a match between the two on Raw last week.

However, GUNTHER effectively cheated to win that match, tapping out when he knew the referee wouldn’t see it and then striking Styles with a low blow.

GUNTHER opened tonight’s WWE Raw and declared his entry in the 2026 Royal Rumble match, joining Cody Rhodes as the names confirmed so far.

Styles then came out to interrupt GUNTHER and challenged him to a rematch at the Rumble.

GUNTHER initially declined because he’s in the Rumble match and doesn’t want to pull double duty that night.

Then, GUNTHER made an offer that he’ll accept Styles’ challenge to a match – as long as Styles puts his career on the line.

GUNTHER has recently adopted the ‘Career Killer’ nickname after beating both Goldberg and Cena in their retirement matches last year.

Styles will give his answer by the end of tonight’s WWE Raw.

UPDATE: AJ Styles accepted GUNTHER’s stipulation so the match is official for Royal Rumble, and if GUNTHER wins, Styles has to retire.
