During the recent WWE SuperShow in Monterey, El Grande Americano serenaded the fans with a rendition of “El Cielito Lindo”.

Now, it seems, WWE want to establish El Grande Americano as a “major player” in AAA, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

This would be a shift from the more “comedic” portrayal of the character that has been seen on WWE television since his debut.

Pete Dunne, who was recently a producer in AAA alongside Jeremy Borash at Director of WWE in Latin America, has also found himself under the El Grande Americano mask.

The Bruiserweight made his debut as El Grande Americano on the July 28 episode of WWE Raw, helping Finn Balor & JD McDonagh retain the World Tag Team Championship.

El Grande Americano as a “major player” in AAA isn’t the only change coming thanks to WWE, with the Mexico-based promotion also expected to see alterations to its production and presentation.
