Following what could be their final match together on the January 26 episode of WWE Raw, CM Punk and AJ Styles shared a heartfelt moment together in the ring.
With his career on the line against GUNTHER at this Saturday’s WWE Royal Rumble 2026 premium live event, AJ Styles saw himself stood across the ring with CM Punk in the main event of last night’s WWE Raw in Toronto, Canada.
In what was their first one-on-one match against each other in WWE, the two veterans battled it out for Punk’s World Heavyweight Title, a match that would ultimately end with a disqualification win for Punk after Finn Balor attacked him.
Despite the disappointing result, fans inside the Scotiabank Arena got to see the two veteran stars share a touching moment once WWE cameras stopped rolling.
As captured by a fan in attendance and posted to Twitter (see below), Styles thanked Punk and the fans after their match:
“I’m so grateful that you and I were in this ring tonight, and I wanna tell you and everybody else, thank you so much. I love you brother.”

Punk would then take the microphone, telling Styles that it’s a “privilege” to call him a friend:
“For everybody who stayed (they) know today, last night, was hard travel, bad weather, we appreciate y’all showing up here.
“Look I don’t know what happens in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when AJ Styles takes on GUNTHER, I just know that I’m going to be glued to the monitor watching just like every one of you.
“And I mean this when I say it, AJ, I whispered it to you earlier, I don’t care who knows it publicly, it has been a privilege to know you.
“It’s a privilege to call you friend, it’s an honor to be in the ring with you. I speak as a fan, I hope Saturday’s not it, but if it is, man, what a hell of a career. I love you brother, thank you.”

Along AJ Styles vs. GUNTHER and the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble Matches, Punk’s former rival Drew McIntyre will be putting the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Sami Zayn at the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble, with no other additions made to the card at the time of writing.
