Ahead of Forbidden Door, top NJPW star Zack Sabre Jr. has addressed his unfinished business with AEW star Bryan Danielson.
The rivalry between Bryan Danielson and Zack Sabre Jr. has seen the two master technicians clash in two meeting. First, Danielson defeated Sabre Jr. at AEW WrestleDream in October 2023.
Then, the second bout at NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka in February 2024 saw ZSJ get a measure of revenge by picking up the win against Bryan. Even with “The American Dragon” winding down his time as a full time wrestler, there still seems to be some unfinished business between the two.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Zack Sabre Jr. addressed his rivalry with Bryan Danielson. He said:
“I’m forever indebted to Bryan for the match he gave me back in 2008 in a little pub in Coventry.”
“Few wrestlers have had the direct and indirect influence on my career as old dragon bollocks.”
“There’s also no one else in the world that I can have those kinds of matches with, so I know that we are not done yet–even with Bryan winding down his schedule.”
“We could wrestle every day of the week and it would never feel like enough. I’d love to take that bout truly around the world.”
“We’ve got a couple of continents we haven’t hit yet. Both in and out of the ring, Bryan is one of a kind.”
Both men will be in action at this Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door as Bryan Danielson is scheduled to face NJPW’s Shingo Takagi in an Owen Hart Cup Quarterfinal Match.
Meanwhile, Zack Sabre Jr. will go one-on-one with Orange Cassidy. For the full lineup for the event, click here.
