An AEW star has jumped to the defense of WWE’s The Miz after a SmackDown star sent him a message on social media.
For several weeks now, Carmelo Hayes has found himself face-to-face with former tag team partner The Miz, with “The A-Lister” consistently angling for a shot at Hayes’ WWE United States Championship.
On the January 23 episode of SmackDown, the two-time former WWE Grand Slam Champion would let his actions do the talking as he interfered in Hayes’ U.S. Title match with Ilja Dragunov, costing the latter his opportunity.
Similarly to when Tommaso Ciampa cost Carmelo Hayes his shot at the title without Ilja knowing on the December 5 SmackDown, Hayes did not catch Miz’s interference, but shared a fiery message for his former tag team partner on social media afterwards.
Taking to Twitter, Hayes wrote:
Thank You Montréal
Thank You Ilja
Fck you Miz
#SmackDown
While The Miz has not responded to Hayes’ comments, AEW National Champion Ricochet jumped to Miz’s defense, writing:
You wouldnt be anything without the Miz. Show some respect.
While he’s been a member of the AEW roster since August 2024, Ricochet is someone who has experience competing against Carmelo Hayes in the past – with the pair facing off for the NXT North American Championship at WWE NXT Worlds Collide 2022.
