Following his release from the company, former WWE star Shelton Benjamin says he would love to work with AEW or TNA.
On September 21, 2023, WWE had their latest slate of talent cuts following the merger with UFC into TKO Group Holdings. One of the longest tenured stars released was Shelton Benjamin.
Despite the likes of Mustafa Ali and Nic Nemeth showing up in NJPW and TNA, Benjamin has remained a free agent and only made two independent wrestling appearances.
In a new interview with The Daily Star, Shelton Benjamin discussed weighing his options across the wrestling world as a free agent. He said:
“I’m always open to working with any of those companies.”
“At this point, it’s a business aspect of to me, and that’s how I approach it. I’d love to work in AEW. I’d love work in IMPACT. I don’t put a limit on where I’m going.”
“I’m open to all of these places. New Japan is still my favorite company outside of WWE, and I say WWE because I have so many friends still there. I’m open to anything and everywhere,”
It remains to be seen which major promotion Benjamin will sign with or make an appearance for at the time of this writing.
Shelton Benjamin is set to compete in the Super Strong 16 tournament in PROGRESS Wrestling on May 26 and 27.
Benjamin recently made an appearance for Prestige Wrestling in a match against NJPW STRONG mainstay, Tom Lawlor.
