AEW star Kenny Omega has explained why holding 3 promotions’ top championships is both a blessing and a curse.
Omega currently holds the AEW World, IMPACT World and AAA Mega Championships. The Cleaner has confessed that leading 3 promotions at the same time is no easy feat.
Speaking on Wrestling with the Week, Omega admitted that there are pros and cons to holding multiple world titles. Explaining that the champion is the focal point of a show, Omega stated that making time to defend the titles is taxing.
Noting that it tests your mental and physical health at times, Omega stated that his role requires a lot of multi-tasking.
Here is the full quote:
“It’s a blessing and a curse… As champion, you get some high-quality matches and you’re the focal point of the shows, but at the same time, there is a schedule that is required and a demand for your body and health and psychological health. There is a demand that goes into being a champion.
“It’s cool to look at pictures and be like, ‘wow, look at all these belts,’ but then I think, ‘Man, I have to defend these and make time to defend these. I have to be that guy for the company and you just count the days and weeks that you’re available to do it. It’s requiring a lot of multi-tasking. I’m hanging on and I can do it right now, so I’m going to do it.”
Omega now knows who he’ll be defending each title against next. At Double or Nothing on May 30, Omega puts the AEW World Championship on the line against Orange Cassidy and PAC. He will next defend his IMPACT gold against Moose at Against All Odds next month.
At TripleMania, Andrade will challenge for Omega’s AAA Mega Championship. This will be Andrade’s first AAA match since his WWE release earlier this year.
