John Cena has reacted to Matt Cardona’s WWE return on last night’s episode of NXT (September 23).
Five years on from his WWE release in 2020, former WWE United States, Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion Matt Cardona made his return to the company on NXT.
Appearing alongside several other TNA Wrestling talent, including other former WWE names such as Eric Young, Cedric Alexander and, The IInspiration, Cardona stormed the ring during the show’s main event ‘Title vs. Title Winner Takes All Match’ between Oba Femi and Trick Williams.
Cardona’s appearance in particular received a big pop inside the WWE Performance Center, with his wife Chelsea Green joining fans in celebrating his long awaited return.
Among those to react to Cardona’s appearance was 17-time world champion John Cena, who took to Instagram to share an image of his one-time former WWE ally on Instagram.
As can be seen below, Cena shared an image of Cardona’s appearance on NXT last night. As expected with Cena’s Instagram, he did not add a caption to the post.
Cena mentioned Cardona during his ‘WWE Pipebomb’ promo to CM Punk on the June 20 episode of SmackDown, as well as fellow former WWE stars Nic Nemeth and Claudio Castagnoli.
