Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena has been officially announced for an upcoming televised event.
As WWE’s “Last Real Champion” is keen to remind the fans on a regular basis, the number of remaining dates in John Cena’s 2025 WWE Farewell Tour are steadily decreasing in number as we cross the halfway point in the year.
With Cena’s next WWE Title defence officially set for June 28’s Night of Champions against CM Punk, we now have news of another appearance for the 17-time champion heading into SummerSlam 2025.
As announced by Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Twitter, Cena will be appearing on the August 1 episode of SmackDown – which is one night before WWE’s first ever two night SummerSlam kicks off at MetLife Arena on Saturday, August 2.
It’s not yet known what WWE’s plans are for Cena at SummerSlam, but if he manages to get past CM Punk at Night of Champions he may need to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against the winner of the 2025 King of the Ring at the two night event.
The winner of this year’s King & Queen of the Ring will be determined at Night of Champions, with a world title shot at SummerSlam up for grabs.
Tonight’s SmackDown will see Sami Zayn take on Randy Orton for a spot in the King of the Ring final, while Monday’s Raw (June 23) will see former Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes take on Jey Uso in the other semi final match.
