Two former WWE stars made their first appearance on WWE television in five years on tonight’s WWE NXT show.
UPDATE: TNA Wrestling invades WWE NXT – click here for the latest.
On last week’s NXT Homecoming special episode of the show, it was announced that a title vs. title match would take place on tonight’s episode of the show.
The match will pit NXT Champion Oba Femi against TNA World Champion Trick Williams, with the winner walking out with both titles.
The decision led to a lot of unrest from TNA stars, who have taken to social media over the past week to voice their displeasure for two WWE stars fighting for TNA’s World Championship, which led to speculation that a TNA ‘invasion’ could take place on tonight’s show.
Well that indeed seems to be the case, as in the opening shot of tonight’s NXT show, TNA stars Moose, Eric Young and Matt Cardona were shown lurking in the parking lot behind Trick and Oba as they entered the building.
Moose previously faced off against Oba Femi at NXT Roadblock, as well as competing a number of times on NXT television in recent months.
Both Cardona and Young were released from WWE in April 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, with tonight’s appearance marking both men’s first WWE television appearance in five years.
Young briefly re-signed with WWE back in 2022, but left the company before he returned to television due to his unwillingness to work with Vince McMahon, who had recently made his way back into the company.
