Tommy Dreamer has reacted to WWE star CM Punk’s fiery comments from Monday Night Raw, calling it one of the best blur-the-lines promos.
CM Punk opened the April 6 show with a “pipe bomb” promo, taking aim at a number of parties, including his WrestleMania 42 opponent Roman Reigns.
Punk also references Pat McAfee and TKO Executive Chairman Ari Emanuel, commenting on a number of subjects, including ticket sales.
Speaking on Busted Open, Tommy Dreamer called this one of the best blur-the-lines he has seen in wrestling.
Believing that Punk vs Reigns has a big fight feel now, the former ECW World Heavyweight Champion said:
“If you’re blurring the lines, which a lot of times we do in pro-wrestling, this was one of the best blur the lines… Is he shooting? Is he going off script? Is he just being CM Punk?
“It’s also CM Punk’s truth. It’s stuff that his character believes, and he just took you on a F-you promo. I loved it, I thought it was different, and I thought it really does add intrigue.
“Next week is the go-home, and I want to hear from Roman Reigns. I feel I have to, this has been box office, and this really does feel big fight feel. It’s also doing one hell of a job of selling the match.”

CM Punk has proven he has a knack for worked-shoot promos, with his 2011 pipe bomb considered by many to be one of the greatest promo segments in WWE history.
It will be interesting to see how Roman Reigns responds to Punk’s harsh words, considering the Tribal Chief spent much of his career on the receiving end of criticism of fans who felt like the company was pushing him too hard.
With Reigns being seen as a company man by fans for so long, it will also be interesting to see which way the result of this world title match goes, as after WrestleMania, the World Heavyweight Championship will either be around the waist of the star who many see as a WWE company man, or the star who just proved (in storyline) that he’s not afraid to say what he thinks.
