A top AEW star has shown support to Trick Williams following his official call-up from WWE NXT to Friday Night SmackDown.
The January 2 episode of SmackDown was one full of newsworthy moments, with a title changing hands, Randy Orton returning after several months out and Matt Cardona officially re-signing with the company after almost six years away.
Cardona wasn’t the only new addition to the SmackDown roster however, as Trick Williams also signed on with the blue brand and immediately got in the face of WWE veteran Sami Zayn.
Trick received a loud response from the fans in Buffalo, who chanted along “Whoop that Trick” with his entrance theme much like the NXT faithful have in recent years, but they weren’t the only ones to show support to the former two-time NXT Champion.
Taking to Twitter, AEW’s Swerve Strickland also showed love to “Trick Willy”, tweeting simply:
#whoopthattrick
Fans won’t have long to wait for the “Whoop That Era” of SmackDown to officially kick off, as Trick Williams will make his in-ring main roster debut against Rey Fenix on the January 9 episode of SmackDown in Berlin, Germany.
