An AEW star has re-signed with the company and set out a future goal that could see them become a first-time World Champion.
After weeks of uncertainty, the future of Jack Perry was finally revealed on last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
It was recently reported that Perry had not signed a new AEW deal, with his contract understood to expire “at any moment.”
Perry would sign a new AEW deal, with footage of the moment being shared during the July 8 episode of AEW Dynamite.
In the footage, which was also shared on the official AEW Instagram account, Perry would give an insight into the reasons he put pen to paper, saying:
“So much has happened since the beginning of all this. I’ve made some amazing friends. I’ve definitely made some enemies. I fell in love here.
“I feel like I’ve always seen people say ‘This guy has potential to be great. This guy has the potential to be the future’, and I can feel it, and it’s probably the biggest fear I have in my life, it’s that I won’t live up to that.”

Perry would also address his future goal, seeking to become AEW World Champion, knowing that he is in the company of “the very best”, stating:
“I want to be the best. I want to be the AEW World Champion. It’s not enough just to be here. I want to be the very best.
“AEW is where the future of professional wrestling is going to be decided. This is the place that I want to be the champion because this is where the very best in the world belong. And, that’s why I’m re-signing with AEW.”

The video package would also see Luchasaurus reflect on their relationship, noting that his Jurassic Express partner’s father, the late Luke Perry, had asked the star to protect his son.
An AEW OG Shows Loyalty Pays
Signing his first AEW deal back in January 2019, Jungle Boy would make his debut at Double or Nothing in May of that year and has gone on to become a mainstay in the company.
A backstage incident with CM Punk may have seen Perry suspended indefinitely, but he would remain under contract, taking a hiatus in which he was reborn as the “Scapegoat”. The situation allowed Perry to explore a new dimension to his character, having sought to move away from his loincloth-wearing Jungle Boy persona.
A former World Tag Team Champion, TNT Champion and National Champion, Perry stands as one of the Four Pillars (alongside MJF, Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin), with each star remaining under contract with AEW and occupying different corners of the promotion. It’s a testament to their talent that they are in the positions that they are in, with their dedication to Tony Khan and his vision no doubt playing a factor in his enthusiasm to keep them all under contract.
The AEW World Championship may have changed hands, seeing MJF lose the title to Kenny Omega, with just one more pay-per-view until Will Ospreay gets his opportunity at All In: London on August 30, but there’s every possibility that Perry could find himself firmly inserted into that picture in the future.
Khan had recently stated that he wants Perry to be part of AEW “for a long time“, which appears to be yet another goal successfully completed for the company president.
