WWE CCO Triple H Paul Levesque

WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H has addressed a championship changing hands on the SummerSlam go-home edition of Raw.

We’ve already had our first WWE title change of SummerSlam week, with a new champion crowned on the July 27 Raw episode.

During the show, Raquel Rodriguez challenged for Sol Ruca’s WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

After being busted open, and following interference from Roxanne Perez, Liv Morgan and IYO SKY, Rodriguez hit Ruca with a Tejana Bomb to win the Women’s Intercontinental Title for the first time in her career.

Triple H has now commented on Raquel Rodriguez’ championship victory, sharing a photo and video to Twitter featuring the new champion, face still covered in blood.

Congratulating Raquel Rodriguez, Triple H wrote:

No challenge too big, no setback too great. Through blood, sweat, and tears, Raquel Rodriguez is the NEW @WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. #AndNew

While this is Raquel Rodriguez’ first singles championship on the main roster, it is far from her first title win on Raw and SmackDown, having held the Women’s Tag Team Championship six times.

Rodriguez did hold the NXT Women’s Championship for 201 days in 2021, as well as the NXT Women’s Tag Team Title during her stint with the developmental brand.

While the Judgment Day now has possesion of both the Women’s Intercontinental Championship and the Women’s World Title, Liv Morgan will have to defeat IYO SKY at SummerSlam if she wants to remain Women’s World Champion this weekend.

With there previously being tensions between Morgan and Rodriguez, a Liv Morgan title loss could pave the way for the duo to have a feud over the Women’s Intercontinental gold.
