A former NXT North American Champion has teased an appearance on WWE SmackDown, answering an open challenge.
The October 3 episode of WWE SmackDown will see Sami Zayn defend the United States Championship in another open challenge.
With a Twitter user suggesting that Wes Lee should be the man to accept the challenge, the NXT star has responded.
In response to the user tagging Wes Lee in a post about the open challenge, Lee shared a “Hmm” GIF, suggesting he’s considering the options available to him.
Lee has recently been teaming with Tyriek Igwe and Tyson Dupont as The High Ryze, and has also claimed to be the “gatekeeper of NXT” on WWE Evolve.
With WWE and TNA Wrestling engaged in a partnership, the former member of The Rascalz has also returned to his past stomping ground.
TNA Sacrifice saw Ace Austin & The Rascalz (Trey Miguel & Zachary Wentz) defeat Lee, Igwe & Dupont back in March of this year.
Lee has previously been seen in dark matches on WWE back in June 2022, losing to Sanga on both occasions.
Sami Zayn has held the WWE United States Championship since the August 29 episode of SmackDown, defeating Solo Sikoa.
