WWE Total Divas

An update has emerged on the reboot of WWE Total Divas, with Nattie sharing an insight into Nick Khan’s apparent enthusiasm.

Total Divas may have been off air since December 2019, but it has recently been the subject of interest from a number of newer members of the WWE roster, including Maxxine Dupri.

With The Bella Twins both back in WWE, the pair have previously pitched the stars that they’d like to see should the series be rebooted.

Speaking to Battleground Podcast, Nattie shared an indication as to the status of any plans to bring back Total Divas, saying:

“The Bella Twins and myself have never ever stopped fighting for Total Divas to come back.

“We want it back more than anything, and we are not taking our foot off the gas on it, so to speak.

“That’s what I love about, you know, I love that we are women who are hungry to bring the show back, and people just love the show.

When it comes to potential stars for a hypothetical reboot, Nattie noted that there were plenty in the women’s roster that love the show, stating:

“So many women superstars in WWE that are coming in, like Blake Monroe, Izzy Dame, Bianca Belair, Tiffany (Stratton), Lash Legend, they’re all saying we want to get into WWE because we love that show.

“So, you see so many women inspired by Total Divas and what we did on that show. I was lucky enough and fortunate enough ot be on that show for all nine seasons. I was the only cast member who was never not on the show, because I was full of a lot of drama too. It’s a show that is extremely special to me, and like I said, The Bellas and I are not taking our foot off the gas as we want the show to happen.”

Nattie would also reveal that WWE president Nick Khan is supportive of the women’s roster, although stopped short of saying he was fully behind a Total Divas return, explaining:

“I feel that powers that be, especially, you know, Nick Khan, because he’s so supportive of us and he’s so collaborative with us. He’s so much… he’s very much like… he listens to us. It’s great. It’s great having a boss that’s just is like “okay, you guys wanna do something? How is it gonna be good? What are we gonna do?”

“Again, I’m not saying we’re there yet, but Nick is somebody, like I said, we got ideas, he’s willing to listen.”

“We’re, just like I said, we’re waiting for the opportunity. We keep putting it out into the universe. I feel like if it’s meant to be, it’ll be. If it happens, it’ll be bigger than it ever was.”

Total Divas aired for nine seasons between July 2013 and December 2019 on E! Television and would receive two Teen Choice Awards nominations and win the PopSugar Best of 2014 Award for Best Reality Show.

Reality Television In The Modern WWE Era

Reality television continues to exist despite Total Divas not playing a part in current programming, with the scripted A&E reality series WWE LFG and the behind-the-scenes Netflix series WWE Unreal both completing their third seasons.

With the women’s roster featuring much more prominently in the post-Divas world of WWE, there are plenty of stars who could fit into the world of Total Divas, blending the larger-than-life personas of the likes of Chelsea Green with the more serious nature of a Rhea Ripley.

Every week, be it on Raw, SmackDown or NXT, stars from both rosters engage in the sort of exchange that wouldn’t look out of place on Total Divas, with storylines bringing drama and humor to proceedings between the actual matches themselves. Even before it was WWE, there was entertainment to be had through promos, skits or whatever mechanism the writers can exploit to hold the audience.

Total Divas may seem like a product of its time, but reality television continues to be a rating winner around the globe and, with the international reach of WWE, there’s likely an audience for the reboot of the series, even in a limited miniseries format.
