A former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion has trademarked their new ring name after a recent debut in another company.
Known to WWE fans as Sonya Deville, the star parted ways with the company last year after her contract was not renewed.
She would later announce that she was effectively retired from professional wrestling, although has since appeared for another promotion.
With TNA Thursday Night Impact debuting on AMC on January 15, Deville made an appearance under a new ring name.
Introduced as “The Suit” Daria Rae, the former WWE star has set out to overthrown TNA’s director of authority Santino Marella.
“The Suit” has taken steps to trademark her new character name via a recent filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Under Serial Number 99596929, the USPTO trademark application covers the term “DARIA RAE” in the category of:
“IC 041: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer;
Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing a website featuring entertainment information in the fields of sports entertainment information;
Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests.”
Last night’s Thursday Night Impact also saw changes made to the upcoming Genesis pay-per-view, with WWE stars stepping to replace TNA Wrestling names who will be absent from the Saturday event.
It also appears that two now-former champions have exited TNA Wrestling following their loss on the January 15 show.
