A current WWE champion has explained why he is not surprised by the success he has experienced so early in his time with the company.
Ricky Saints has already won two singles championships in his almost-nine months with WWE, with the former AEW star currently holding the NXT Championship.
This NXT Title reign came after Saints’ 55 day reign with the North American Championship, meaning that Saints is just an NXT Tag Team Championship win away from becoming a Triple Crown champion, less than a year following his debut for the company.
Speaking with The Five Count, Ricky Saints noted that he isn’t surprised about his recent success, because he has worked very hard to achieve his goals.
Reflecting on his WWE career so far, Saints said:
“I always do a lot of self reflection and I think eight months in, I have been North American Champion and now I’m the NXT Champion. I don’t take that for granted whatsoever, but on the flip side, I’m not surprised.
“The reason I’m not surprised is because I’ve worked very hard. I’ve worked extremely hard, that’s not to come off cocky or anything, but that’s just more of a point to say that I work hard, I do the work, I make sure that I put in the effort, so it is not that surprising to me that I do get paid for the work that I put in.”
