Two WWE stars are set to challenge for Mixed Tag Team Championship gold in a match coming up next weekend.
While WWE doesn’t have a Mixed Tag Team Championship on either NXT or the main roster, the acquisition of AAA means there is some crossover potential.
We’ve already seen it to some extent, with NXT’s Lola Vice and Lince Dorado challenging Mr Iguana and La Hiedra for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Title back in September.
Now, there’s some main roster involvement, as WWE SmackDown star Chelsea Green is set to team with NXT North American Champion Ethan Page to challenge Iguana and Hiedra.
The match is set to take place at the AAA Alianzas tour event at the Showcenter Complex on November 2.
The show is being billed as a special ‘Day of the Dead’ event.
Ethan Page just defeated AAA’s El Hijo de Dr Wagner Jr to retain the North American Title at WWE Halloween Havoc last night.
Page and Chelsea Green formed a duo on NXT TV for a few weeks back in August when they faced Tavion Heights and Tyra Mae Steele at Heatwave, but they haven’t been together on TV for a while.
There were reports that Green had pitched for Page to join her on the WWE main roster, but that hasn’t come to fruition.
Mr Iguana was last in action at Halloween Havoc as well, as he teamed with La Parka in a losing effort against Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.
