A number of WWE stars have officially been added to a new roster page today after making several appearances on the show.
On WrestleMania 41’s kick-off show, WWE announced that they had purchased Mexican lucha libre promotion AAA, with the company now falling under the WWE umbrella.
WWE announced a WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event for that June, with AAA now running weekly shows under the WWE banner, airing on FOX in Mexico and on YouTube internationally.
As well as a number of original AAA roster members such as El Hijo del Vikingo, Flammer, Mr Iguana and Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr, a various number of main roster and NXT stars have appeared on the show.
WWE Opens Official AAA Roster Page
Today, WWE has now officially opened a roster page on it’s website for AAA, with the page featuring eight names as of this writing.
Two of those names are WWE Hall of Famers John ‘Bradshaw’ Layfield and Rey Mysterio, who provide commentary for AAA shows.
The six active wrestlers include current AAA Mega Champion ‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio, AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion Lola Vice and all four Americanos; El Grande Americano, Original El Grande Americano, Rayo and Bravo Americano.
It’s worth noting that the roster so far only includes names who already featured on WWE’s website, hence none of the AAA exclusive stars being listed.
Other names who frequently appear on AAA broadcasts, such as Dragon Lee, Rey Fenix, Penta, Omos and Santos Escobar also are not featured on the AAA roster officially as of now.
Should More WWE Main Roster Stars Appear On AAA?
As well as the aforementioned names who appear semi-regularly on AAA, other main roster WWE stars have made appearances on the show, including Bayley, the War Raiders, Axiom and Los Garza.
WWE sending undercard talents to work matches for AAA allows for those underutilised names to get more ring time and exposure to the audience, but the company must be careful about sending too many names at once.
When WWE purchased AAA, many fans were concerned that WWE would alter the product to be more in line with what we see on Raw and SmackDown, and replacing the traditional AAA luchadores with more WWE names would take away what makes AAA as a product stand out from the rest of WWE’s content.
