A WWE star has vacated their championship after a successful title defence amid speculation about their future.
In recent weeks, a number of WWE NXT stars have appeared on both Raw and SmackDown as free agents, with them seemingly set for call ups to the main roster.
While he has not physically appeared on Raw or SmackDown, vignettes for NXT Champion Oba Femi have aired on both Raw and SmackDown, implying that he is also on his way up to the main roster soon.
Oba was set to defend his NXT Championship against TNA’s Leon Slater on tonight’s New Years Evil episode of NXT, with Oba retaining the title in the show’s main event.
After the match, NXT General Manager Ava spoke to the WWE Evolve roster, where she said that Je’von Evans, Trick Williams, Lash Legend and Jordynne Grace have all officially been moved up to the main roster, noting that there will ‘probably be more’.
Robert Stone would then interrupt, alerting her that Oba Femi had left the NXT Championship in the ring, seemingly vacating the belt ahead of his move to the main roster.
