On the October 24 AAA Heroes Immortales Night One, Rey Fenix had a backstage segment with Mini Vikingo after his injury.
During this segment, Fenix stated that he planned to hold an open challenge on Heroes Immortales Night Two next week.
Before he gets there, Fenix will have to get passed Ricky Saints on the October 30 SmackDown, but it should be interesting if whoever answer this open challenge comes from the WWE main roster or developmental brands.
Here are four potential next AAA World Cruiserweight Championship challengers at Heroes Immortales for Rey Fenix.
Johnny Gargano
In recent months, Johnny Gargano has been undergoing a bit of resurgence on WWE television.
After getting off his crate backstage, Gargano has found himself as a fixture in the main event scene alongside Sami Zayn.
This may put him in line for a shot at more championship gold after coming up short against CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship in September.
Gargano heading to Heroes Immortales to challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship would be fitting and follow up from their recent interactions on Friday Night SmackDown.
JD McDonagh
On the July 31 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Rey Fenix defeated JD McDonagh to retain the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
Since then, McDonagh has been gaining momentum through wins in singles and tag team action.
Most recently, McDonagh defeated Joe Hendry to finally shut him up with his insults towards his large head.
Following this win, JD could join his Judgment Day stablemate Dominik Mysterio over in AAA by answering Rey Fenix’s open challenge for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship at Heroes Immortales.
Jack Cartwheel
Jack Cartwheel has been a regular fixture in the Lucha Libre AAA cruiserweight division over the past few months.
Back at WWE AAA TripleMania 34, Rey Fenix defeated Cartwheel, Nathan Frazer and Mini Vikingo to retain the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
After coming up short in this bout, Cartwheel has been trying to get himself back into title contention.
Cartwheel answering Fenix’s open challenge for the title at AAA Heroes Immortales could lead to him finally winning the big one in the promotion.
Dragon Lee
Another WWE star who could answer Rey Fenix’s AAA World Cruiserweight Championship open challenge is Dragon Lee.
Over the past couple of months, Lee has been challenging for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
After losing in his past few title matches, Lee could head back to Lucha Libre AAA to contend for the Cruiserweight Title again.
Lee has everything it takes to be the one to finally dethrone Rey Fenix for the gold at AAA Heroes Immortales on October 31.
