A WWE NXT & TNA double champion was crowned during tonight’s July 20 TNA Wrestling Slammiversary pay-per-view on Long Island.

With the partnership between the companies and regular crossover appearances both ways, there were three ‘NXT vs TNA’ matches at Slammiversary tonight.

The first was an eight-man tag which saw TNA representatives JDC, Brian Myers, Eddie Edwards and Matt Cardona defeat NXT’s DarkState faction of Dion Lennox, Cutler James, Saquon Shugars and Osiris Griffin.

The second was a title vs title ‘winner takes all’ match pitting NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne against TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich.

Per it being a title vs title match, the winner would leave with both championships.

Jayne was accompanied by fellow Fatal Influence members Fallon Henley and Jazmyn Nyx, but as they kept trying to get involved, Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside came out to even the numbers.

However, as the referee was paying attention to the brawling at ringside, she got knocked down, which meant she couldn’t count the fall when Slamovich had Jayne pinned for way more than a three count.

By the time a new referee had come out, Jayne had enough time to recover and managed to turn the tables, landing the Rolling Encore to pick up the win and become double champion.

Jacy Jayne is now NXT Women’s Champion and TNA Knockouts Champion.

The third ‘NXT vs TNA’ match will come in the main event when NXT’s Trick Williams defends the TNA World Championship against Joe Hendry and Mike Santana in a three-way match.
