A WWE star has been confirmed to be El Hijo del Vikingo’s next challenger for the AAA Mega Championship at the Worlds Collide event in Las Vegas on September 12.
In the main event of AAA TripleMania XXXIII, El Hijo del Vikingo successfully defended the AAA Mega Championship against Dominik Mysterio, Dragon Lee and El Grande Americano in a four-way.
While Triple H offered his congratulations to the champion after the match, it was AJ Styles‘ interference that proved pivotal in the match’s outcome – storming the ring and delivering a Styles Clash to “Dirty Dom” that made way for Vikingo to retain his title.
In a video posted by WWE’s official social channels, Mysterio announced that he was officially challenging Vikingo to a rematch for the Mega Championship at WWE & AAA’s collaborative Worlds Collide event on September 12, while also taking a shot at Styles.
Mysterio said:
“AJ Styles, you old bat. You just cost me the AAA Mega Championship.
“El Hijo del Vikingo I’ll see you at Worlds Collide.”
As can be seen below, Dom would then be confronted by his father Rey Mysterio, with the Intercontinental Champion using AJ Styles’ interference as an excuse for his loss before Rey told his son “get off of cloud nine”.
We will provide further updates on any other announcements for Worlds Collide as they happen.
