WWE has announced a special official World Cup viewing available for fans who attend an upcoming SmackDown taping in the UK.
With WWE announcing a Tuesday taping of Friday Night SmackDown for June 23 at London’s O2 Arena in May, reports revealed that the taping would have an earlier-than-usual start time as to not clash with England’s World Cup game.
England are set to face Ghana in their second round of the tournament group stage, and fans attending Tuesday’s SmackDown taping won’t miss any of the action.
WWE UK has announced an official “FIFA World Cup Viewing” presented by Budweiser. SmackDown ticket holders will be able to remain in the O2 Arena after the WWE taping to watch the match live.
WWE United Kingdom shared the following on Facebook:
Big news WWE fans 🚨 WWE SmackDown attendees will get an added bonus following the conclusion of the event on Tuesday 23 June at The O2, where they’ll be able to remain in the arena for an Official FIFA World Cup ’26™ Viewing, brought to you by Budweiser, screening the match between England vs Ghana live 🏴🇬🇭
Doors open for SmackDown at 4:30pm and the live football viewing, starting shortly before 9pm, will allow fans to watch the full game live from their seat, on WWE screens at The O2 ⚽
This seems to be a great move for all parties. WWE is no longer competing with fans who want to watch the football, if anything, this viewing incentivises England supporters to attend SmackDown so they can watch the World Cup match with other passionate fans.
On the flip side, it allows the O2 Arena to host a “minimal effort” watch party, with an audience already secured and tickets distributed.
With WWE shows often coinciding with other big sporting events, it would make a lot of sense for more of these partnership viewings to happen in the future.
