A match that was announced and set for tonight’s October 3 episode of WWE SmackDown ended up not taking place.

On the official advertised lineup from WWE for SmackDown tonight was Damian Priest in action in a match against an unnamed opponent.

However, the show has now come and gone without that match taking place.

Priest did make an appearance tonight, interrupting the United States Championship match between Sami Zayn and Aleister Black.

The Black vs Zayn match came as part of Zayn’s US Title open challenge, although it was actually Carmelo Hayes who tried to accept it first.

Hayes was attacked on his way to the ring by former tag team partner The Miz, with Black then coming out to take Hayes’ spot.

In the midst of Zayn vs Black, Priest came out to distract Black and cost him the match, before putting him through the announce table afterwards.

Later in a backstage interview, Priest continued to call out Black, but he was interrupted by Kit Wilson in a wheelchair – who Priest has attacked multiple times in recent weeks – with Wilson claiming he’s going to put an end to Priest’s toxic masculinity.

Priest then pushed Wilson away on his wheelchair in comedic faction, before announcing he’ll face Black in a Last Man Standing match on next week’s pre-Crown Jewel episode of SmackDown in Perth, Australia

There was no mention of Priest’s originally advertised match or why it didn’t take place.
