AAA stars Mr Iguana and Psycho Clown appeared on tonight’s August 1 episode of WWE SmackDown to answer a championship open challenge.
Last month, the Garza cousins Angel and Berto won the AAA World Tag Team Championship at TripleMania Regia III, winning a four-way that also included Nic & Ryan Nemeth, Psycho Clown & Pagano, and then-champions Nueva Generación Dinamita.
On tonight’s SmackDown, Los Garza held an open challenge, defending the championship against unannounced opponents.
The opponents ended up being AAA’s Mr Iguana and Psycho Clown teaming together after they recently did so at WWE’s live events in Mexico in six-man tag action alongside Pagano.
Iguana, of course, had La Yesca with him, and was massively popular with the fans in Newark.
However, Iguana and Psycho Clown were unsuccessful in their attempt to become champions as Los Garza retained following an MTY to Psycho Clown.
Mr Iguana is currently a AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion alongside La Hiedra, with the pair recently picking up a win against former WWE star Santino Marella and NXT‘s Lola Vice at Verano De Escandalo.
