TNA Wrestling World Champion Mike Santana’s contract is reportedly coming up soon, with WWE interested in signing him.

During the WWE & TNA partnership, Santana is one of the names who has crossed over the most and has made numerous appearances on NXT TV – most recently last week at The Theater in Madison Square Garden.

According to a new report from PWInsider Elite, Santana’s TNA contract is set to expire this summer and WWE maintains interest.

Santana’s contract actually came up not long ago and there was an expectation at that point that he was WWE-bound, but he quietly signed an extension to stay with TNA.

Santana is the current TNA World Champion in his second reign with the title, having dropped it to Frankie Kazarian before winning it back on the Impact AMC premiere episode of the start of the year.

He would be the latest addition to the list of former TNA World Champions who would have made a direct move straight to WWE after making crossover appearances via the companies’ partnership, joining the likes of Joe Hendry and Jordynne Grace.

Should Mike Santana Join WWE?

There’s no doubt that WWE is right to have interested in Mike Santana, but the question is whether he thinks it’s the right move for himself.

He’s been very passionate – and rightly so – about having made the right decision in leaving where he was in AEW to become the top champion in TNA.

Of course there will be a financial element to think about as well, but it’s a question of whether he wants to remain the top guy in TNA, or leave that position to join WWE, where it’s not impossible he could become a top guy, but it would be a risk he’d have to take in order to find out.
