Goldberg has named Brock Lesnar his best career opponent, reflecting on his excitement to work with the WWE star due to their evenly matched physicality.
Goldberg and Brock Lesnar first shared the ring at WrestleMania 20 in March 2004, during Goldberg’s first run in WWE, 12 years before facing Brock Lesnar once again at Survivor Series in 2016 in a match that lasted under 90 seconds.
With both stars now retired, their trilogy came to an end at WrestleMania 33 in 2017, with Brock Lesnar defeating Goldberg to claim the WWE Universal Championship.
Speaking of their rivalry on Going Ringside, Goldberg reflected on his similarities with Lesnar across their respective careers, saying:
“At the end of the day, Brock Lesnar was my best opponent because he was a mirror image of myself. Just as a blonde wrestler, and I played football.
“The dynamic of having two absolute monsters in the ring together, I was more excited than anyone because he was a guy that could take it if I hit him.”

The interview would also see Goldberg share his thoughts on his relationship with Triple H, which changed over the years.
Brock Lesnar & The Retirement That Wasn’t
WrestleMania 42 saw Oba Femi defeat Brock Lesnar, with the veteran star leaving his boots and gloves in the ring post-match and reports at the time suggesting a retirement had taken place at Allegiant Stadium.
That wouldn’t be the case, however, with Lesnar returning to face Femi once again, this time at Clash in Italy, having reportedly reaming on the internal roster as an active performer following WrestleMania 42.
Following the May 31 Premium Live Event, Lesnar and Femi stand at 1-1, with it highly unlikely that their feud would end on a draw.
Speaking in December of last year, John Cena had indicated that time was coming to an end for Lesnar as an in-ring competitor, going so far as to state “creatively it’s very soon” and, while a date is yet to be confirmed, it was suggested that SummerSlam in Minnesota could be when it happens.
Assuming that Lesnar does retire at the August WWE PLE, it would be unusual if the plan didn’t involve Oba Femi, settling their feud as a best-of-three series.
The question, therefore, would be whether Lesnar rides off into the sunset as the conquering Beast Incarnate, or Femi enters a new era of stardom as Breaker of the Beast.
