WWE has filed to trademark the new name for an upcoming special show after a change was officially made yesterday.

At NXT No Mercy this past Saturday, WWE announced Invasion for October 7, which would be an NXT vs TNA show after TNA stars stormed the Oba Femi vs Trick Williams match last week.

However, in the days that followed the announcement, it was reported that the event name had received a negative response in Israel, especially due to the date of October 7.

During NXT last night, it was officially announced that the show had been renamed Showdown instead of Invasion.

It’s now emerged that WWE has filed to trademark Showdown with the following description:

Entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information

It has not been officially stated that the decision to change the name was made due to the Israel response.

Showdown will feature two four-on-four elimination tag team matches – one for the men and one for the women.

For the men, NXT’s team is NXT Champion Ricky Saints, TNA World Champion Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Myles Borne, while TNA’s team is Mike Santana, TNA International Champion Frankie Kazarian, Moose and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.

NXT’s women’s team is NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, NXT Women’s North American Champion and WWE Speed Women’s Champion Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker and Lola Vice, while TNA’s team is headed up by NXT star and TNA Knockouts World Champion Kelani Jordan, The IInspiration and Mara Sade.
