A former WWE star has offered criticism of the CM Punk and Roman Reigns promo segment on this week’s episode of Raw.

In the last segment of the show, World Heavyweight Champion Punk and Royal Rumble winner Reigns set up their WrestleMania main event match.

However, one name who wasn’t a big fan of the segment was former Intercontinental Champion Lance Storm, who suggested it was an example of what he’s grown to dislike about a lot of WWE promos, which is too much ‘milking’ and encouraging of fan participation.

On Wrestling Observer Live, Storm explained:

“I get frustrated when promos start and they seem to be milking and playing into the crowd singing and interacting so much that I lose interest.

“I actually turned off the main event promo and went, ‘You know what, I’ll see the clips of the important part later, I can’t stand here listening to the crowd sing Roman Reigns…’ They lost my interest before it got good.

“There has been a tendency from the company where you can tell that if the crowd even starts anything, the person in the ring pauses and tries to get them to go further, and I’ve gotten annoyed by it a long time ago, and I came to the conclusion that the important parts of this will be on social media in 20 minutes, I’ll save myself the time and effort.

“They are overly concerned with elongating that and playing into that and milking that, and it’s just not what I enjoy watching. I tune into a show to listen to and see stars.

“I don’t tune into a show to listen and hear from fans. If they are popping, great. But when you can tell they are actively trying to milk it and make that the thing that stands out on the show, I personally am not gonna stay around for it. If others do, fantastic. I’m not exactly the target demo. My review is they need to grab my attention better.”
