An update has emerged on potential plans for WWE Champion Cody Rhodes after his WrestleMania 41 match against John Cena.
Cody Rhodes kicked off today’s WWE SmackDown in London, England, introduced by new ring announcer Mark Nash (Mark Shunock).
Before Rhodes could really get going, he was cut off by the entrance of Randy Orton, who joined him ring the ring.
Orton praised Rhodes for everything he’s done over the past few years, attributing “99.9%” of WWE’s increase in business to the work that Rhodes has put in.
However, after all that praise and telling Rhodes how proud he is, Orton did say that he’ll be coming after the WWE Championship if Rhodes gets through John Cena at WrestleMania.
However, they were both then cut off by the entrance of Drew McIntyre, who claimed that Orton has done nothing since his return to earn a title shot.
McIntyre called both Orton and Rhodes “nepo babies”, saying that he’ll be the one taking Rhodes’ title if Cena doesn’t do it at Mania.
Things got heated, and after Rhodes uppercutted McIntyre, Orton tried to nail the Scot with an RKO, but he managed to escape and left the ring.
It was then announced that a McIntyre vs Orton match will take place later during tonight’s show.
