WWE dropped a new announcement for a Cody Rhodes segment featuring GUNTHER on SmackDown, but with a notable mistake.
As announced earlier this week, Raw’s World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER will make an appearance on tomorrow night’s October 25 episode of SmackDown for a face-to-face segment with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
The text for the announcement on WWE’s official website reads as follows:
“As an epic showdown looms at WWE Crown Jewel on Nov. 2, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has invited World Heavyweight Champion Gunther to a face-to-face confrontation on SmackDown.
“The two champions sparred on the Oct. 14 episode of Raw, prompting The American Nightmare to offer The Ring General the chance to visit SmackDown.
“What will the two champions talk about?
“Find out next week at 8/7 C on USA!”
However, eagled-eyes fans would notice that the page contained a botch on the graphic that was used.
You can see the photo below featuring Cody Rhodes on the left and GUNTHER on the right.
Cody Rhodes is of course holding the Undisputead WWE Championship belt, while GUNTHER is holding a belt, but NOT the World Heavyweight title he currently holds.
Instead, GUNTHER is holding the Intercontinental Championship in the graphic.
GUNTHER lost the Intercontinental Championship to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 40 in April 2024 after a 666-day reign.
He’s been World Heavyweight Champion since SummerSlam with a reign currently standing at 81 days.
At WWE Crown Jewel, Cody Rhodes and GUNTHER will be facing off as the top champions in the men’s division for the Crown Jewel Championship.
The women’s champions are set for the same stipulation with WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax facing Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan at the premium live event on November 2.
