Here’s what happened during Jelly Roll’s second ever match in WWE during tonight’s March 27 episode of SmackDown.
Last week’s ‘slam poetry’ battle between Jelly and Kit Wilson last week led to a match tonight, which marked Jelly’s second time in in-ring action, and his first in a singles bout.
His first match was at WWE SummerSlam 2025 last August, where he teamed with Randy Orton against the team of Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre in a losing effort.
Tonight, Jelly Roll scored his first win as he landed a chokeslam on Wilson before pinning him for the three count.
The match officially lasted just over five minutes in total from bell to bell, and the crowd were very much behind Jelly Roll throughout.
Among the offense he delivered in the match were a Randy Orton-esque powerslam, a belly-to-belly suplex that Wade Barrett on commentary coined the ‘Jelly-to-Belly,’ and his chokeslam finisher.
In other news coming out of SmackDown tonight, it appeared that a WWE Hall of Famer may have suffered an injury – click here to read more.
Jelly Roll Potential WrestleMania 42 Match
While not confirmed, Jelly Roll being back involved with WWE heading into WrestleMania suggests he’s likely to be involved at Mania itself as well.
There probably won’t be an exact rematch between Jelly and Kit Wilson, but it seems like they could be heading towards a tag team match.
Wilson has kicked off an alliance with The Miz in recent weeks, and their match tonight stemmed from an interview on Miz TV a few weeks back.
Meanwhile, Miz himself has been having some issues with Danhausen, who has now cursed both Miz and Wilson backstage.
Therefore, if there are plans in store at WrestleMania, it appears it could be a tag team match with Wilson and Miz teaming up against Jelly Roll and Danhausen.
However, it’s also possible that Jelly Roll was just brought in to be part of the build to Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes – which saw him take an RKO from Orton at the end of the show tonight.
