An update has emerged on former WWE star Matt Riddle making his debut for TNA Wrestling, and his potential future with the promotion.
Riddle made his debut for TNA Wrestling during Friday’s (November 29) Turning Point event.
While originally slated was a three-on-three match, with Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz of the Rascalz teaming up with Kushida to face Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy and Ace Austin, Riddle ultimately replaced Miguel, who wasn’t able to appear due to travel complications.
This was possible as TNA Turning Point was presented with WrestleCade, and Riddle was reportedly already backstage at WrestleCade and able to fill in.
Per Fightful Select, TNA sources noted that while the situation wasn’t ideal, the fact that there were “a hundred or so possible replacements” at the convention meant that they weren’t too stressed.
The report noted that people within TNA were happy about the live reception of Riddle’s appearance, however it was also noted that the promotion wouldn’t commit to using him again in the future.
Riddle’s team ultimately came up short, with Jeff Hardy pinning Kushida to pick up the victory for his team.
Matt Riddle was previously released by WWE in September 2023 and has since appeared in NJPW, AAA and most recently, MLW.
