TNA Wrestling’s Matt Hardy has addressed he and his brother Jeff’s potential in-ring retirement plans.

2026 marks 32 years since Matt and Jeff Hardy made their respective in-ring debuts on WWE programming, with the future Hall of Famers currently still going strong and innovating between the ropes.

Having re-signed with TNA Wrestling late last year, fans know where they can expect to see The Hardys wrestle for the remainder of 2026, but what are the brothers’ long-term plans inside the ring?

Speaking with GOW Media, Matt Hardy was asked how much time he feels he and Jeff have left as active wrestlers, to which Matt responded:

“We’re trying to ride the spiral until it ends and that’s kind of our goal. Whenever our bodies tell us like ‘Okay, we’re done.’ That’s when we’ll be done.

“But until then we’re going to continue to live the childhood dream and try and give back and help people. Like Private Party, like Leon Slater, if there’s anybody out there that’s young and we can give them some nuggets of wisdom, we’re all about it. We love being able to give back too, and I think that’s something that we take a lot of pride in.”

Matt & Jeff’s trademark risk-taking antics will be on full display this Sunday in Boston for TNA Slammiversary 2026, where they, The Righteous and The System (Brian Myers & Bear Bronson) compete in a Three-Way Ladder Match for the TNA World Tag Team Titles.

If they’re successful in that match, it would be The Hardys’ fifth reign with the TNA World Tag Team Titles, adding to the nine they captured throughout their WWE careers.

A WWE Homecoming Beckons For The Hardy’ Final Run

While they have no doubt achieved Hall of Fame status in TNA Wrestling across their numerous runs in the company, many fans will be hoping that when Matt and Jeff call time on their careers, it take place back in WWE.

During a November 2025 episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt reiterated that he and Jeff are hoping for “something proper” in WWE before eventually calling time on their careers, with a WWE Hall of Fame induction a part of those desired plans.

While they re-signed with TNA rather than returning to WWE in late 2025, the pair have made several appearances on WWE TV amid the NXT and TNA partnership, with Matt and Jeff becoming NXT Tag Team Champions for the first time back in October 2025.

They will also be appearing as playable characters in Season Four of WWE 2K26’s Ringside Pass, another promising indicator regarding the strength of their current relationship with WWE.

Whether it’s in 2026, 2027 or beyond, Matt and Jeff Hardy’s eventual swan song seems destined to come in the same place they began their careers over three decades ago.
