Bad Bunny in WWE

A SmackDown star has heaped praise on Grammy-winning musician Bad Bunny throughout the build to his WWE in-ring debut back in 2021.

While it has now been almost three years since WWE fans got to see Bad Bunny wrestle in the company, the 31-year-old’s small sample of matches is considered some of the most impressive any celebrity has put together in WWE.

Two years before stealing the show in his San Juan Street Fight against Damian Priest at Backlash 2023, Bunny made his debut alongside Priest against The Miz and John Morrison at WrestleMania 37 in Tampa, Florida.

During his appearance on The Undertaker’s Six Feet Under podcast, The Miz recalled Bunny putting in the work throughout the build to his debut match:

“I remember Bunny training, and this was during COVID times where we were at the baseball field in Tampa and every time I would come to a show he was there early in the ring and he would be practicing.

“Then he would go sing at the Grammys, he’d be right back in the ring. He’d got to SNL and he would have the 24/7 title, it was like a fun title right? Ha ha title. But he would have it and hold it and sing on SNL with that title in his arm. I was like man this dude just loves what we do and gets it and he wanted to do something special, he wanted to do something great.”

The Miz then recalled putting Bunny through his paces during his in-ring training

“I remember when they were teaching him, he wanted to learn lockups and headlocks. I was like, ‘Dude, I’m not doing any of that.’ So when he was doing all of that I was like, ‘You know what? Everyone outta the ring.’ I just gave him heat for like 15 minutes and I go, ‘Sell this, because this is what you’re gonna be doing a lot of.’

“I feel like a lot of times celebrities, we hide them, we hide their flaws, whatever. I was like, ‘We’re not hiding you, you are literally be going to be doing the entire intro, you’re gonna be involved in every aspect of this match, because no one will expect it and everyone will expect you to just come hit a clothesline, and hit this, it’s boring. They wanna see you.”

The Miz then recalled the moment he and Morrison spray painted Bunny’s all white Bugatti on WWE Raw, revealing that Bunny insisted they use real spray paint.

“He let us spray paint his $500,000 car, real spray paint, and it was his idea.

“I was like, ‘Bunny I’m a little nervous,’ and he goes, no, no you spray paint it, we’ll have someone wash it afterwards.’

“I go, ‘It might not come off,’ he goes, ‘it’ll be alright.’ But still, that’s how into it Bad Bunny was.”
