An update has emerged regarding the AEW status of Ronda Rousey following her appearance at the Revolution pay-per-view.
At Revolution on March 15, Rousey confronted Toni Storm, allowing Rousey’s MMA Four Horsewomen ally Marina Shafir to get a shot in on Storm after their match.
Rousey has not been on AEW Dynamite or Collision since, and an update on the possibility of that happening has now come to light.
As reported by PWInsider, Rousey is “not expected back anytime soon” in AEW.
Her appearance was reportedly just a “one-off” with the intention of promoting her upcoming MMA return for Most Valuable Promotions against Gina Carano, as well as to support Shafir.
It was said that the moment “just made sense” as Revolution took place locally to Rousey and everything lined up.
There was no follow-up between Rousey and Storm planned before Storm was recently written off TV for what is reportedly a non-injury reason, so it isn’t as if Storm taking time away has halted any plans that were in place.
Should AEW Follow Up On Ronda Rousey & Toni Storm
Ronda Rousey’s appearance at AEW Revolution means the promotion has a built-in way to bring her back in the future.
As for whether that should happen, it ultimately depends on the fan reaction towards Rousey given some of her previous comments about pro-wrestling.
Especially with AEW’s focus on the in-ring aspect of the business, there may be question marks over whether Rousey would have a place on an AEW card, and whether fans would accept her in that place.
She undoubtedly won’t be able to do anything physical before the Carano fight on May 16 anyway, but after that, there’s now an in-built story that she could be part of.
Despite the possibility of fans being against it, it would also be a positive to tie her appearance up into a follow-up and a payoff rather than just leaving it as a somewhat random one-off.
