Three new matches have been added to the Monday, April 6 episode of WWE Raw in Houston, Texas.
In what will be the penultimate episode of WWE Raw before WrestleMania 42, we now we have confirmation regarding some of the in-ring action fans will be seeing tomorrow night in the Toyota Center.
As is tradition on a Sunday, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce took to social media today to give fans a preview of what to expect during the show.
Along with the already announced face-to-face between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar and promo segments of Seth Rollins (who will open the show) and CM Punk, Adam Pearce confirmed three matches for the show.
In what will be a clash between former World Tag Team Champions, Finn Balor will go one-on-one with The Judgment Day’s JD McDonagh, two weeks before Finn takes on Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 42.
Then, following IYO SKY making the save for Rhea Ripley on SmackDown, RHIYO will reunite on Raw for the first time since January, as they take on Michin and B-Fab.
Lastly, Austin Theory will face off with LA Knight in singles action, with Pearce confirming that Logan Paul will be Theory’s corner for the match.
WWE WrestleMania 42 Card To Be Completed On Raw?
With 12 matches official for Night One and Two of WrestleMania 42, it appears as if the card is almost complete.
It was reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on Friday that WWE are planning 14 matches total for WrestleMania 42, with the only two bouts yet to be announced being: IShowSpeed, Logan Paul & Austin Theory vs. LA Knight & The Usos and IYO SKY vs. Asuka.
With both those stories being built on WWE Raw in recent weeks, it seems likely that we could see one, or both confirmed for the WrestleMania 42 card during tomorrow night’s show in Houston.
Can WWE Bounce Back After Backlash To April 3 Episode Of SmackDown?
Compared to the high heights of WrestleMania 39 and 40, the build to this year’s “Show of Shows” has left a lot to be desired.
While much of the fans’ ire has been focused on Pat McAfee’s involvement in Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes, the build to the other WrestleMania 42 main event has been far from perfect either.
After a stellar first few weeks of segments in the build to their World Heavyweight Championship Match, Roman Reigns and CM Punk’s storyline has stagnated somewhat, and will need Punk to inject some life back into it tomorrow night.
Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi has been a consistent highlight, however, with another in-ring meeting confirmed for Raw, WWE will need to do something a bit different to avoid that feeling too familiar.
A lot will also ride on Seth Rollins’ opening segment on WWE Raw, with an explanation needed from GUNTHER as to why he chose to target “The Visionary” last week.
